FRESH engages the young people involved in two seasons a year. Each season comprises of an original play, created for implementation by the creative team at FRESH and workshopped by the young people involved.
Each play addresses a particular theme identified as an issue facing young people in society today. The young people are given the opportunity to engage in the vital questions and messages interactively through the characters they perform and the scenarios the performance engages them in.
FRESH also incorporates a time of small and whole group discussions led by the experienced youth workers, secondary teachers and drama educators that are the FRESH Youth Theatre facilitators.
Blackburn rehearse every Tuesday night from 4pm - 6.30pm and Bayswater rehearse every Thursday night from 4.30pm - 7pm. The cost for each workshop is a negotiable $8 with a $10 registration fee at the start of each year. Each workshop consists of afternoon tea, rehearsal time, pastoral care/candle time and then we all sit down together and share a meal.
We run 2 camps throughout the year - June long weekend, the FRESHIE's come along to State Youth Games, a youth event in Warragul involving over 3000 youth from across the state participating in all types of sporting activities. In September we hold our annual FRESH Camp. For 3 days, the youth engage in fun activities, deliberate positive imput time, small group discussions centred around the camp theme, performances and team building.
